Purview of the Local Historic District 

  • A Local Historic District Commission would review changes to exterior architectural features that are visible from a public way. Only built exterior features will be considered as contributing to the Historic District.
  • Items under review would include: siding, windows, doors, trim, foundations, dormers, chimneys, exterior stairs, lighting fixtures, fences, air conditioning units, outbuildings.
  • Hardscapes, in the form of terraces, driveways and site walls are included as character defining features as they contribute to the overall quality of the neighborhood.
  • Per M.G.L Chapter 40C, plantings are excluded from review.  
  • Interior repairs and renovations shall NOT be considered.
