Weston Veterans' Memorial Educational Fund

The Weston Veterans Memorial Educational Fund, previously known as the Weston War Memorial Educational Fund, was established by vote of the Town Meeting on March 23, 1953, in honor of those who have served our country.

Purpose of Fund

The fund provides financial assistance for higher education to members of the gradating class of Weston High School. The awards are based on need, personal character and scholastic ability. Some of the recipients are residents of the town, others members of the Metco program, others children of school employees.

Committee Overview

The 1953 Town Meeting also established a permanent educational fund committee to oversee the annual appeal and distribute the scholarships. The committee consists of five residents of the town, two of whom are graduates of Weston High School, one the principal of the high school or a faculty member, and one a veteran. The committee meets three times a year. The members are appointed by the Town Moderator and each serves for a term of five years.
